Stretched canvasses have pre-primed canvas stretched tightly over a wooden frame.  They are the most popular form of painting surface.  The stiff boards known as canvas panels, which have a layer of canvas bonded to them, are a viable substitute for stretched canvas. These boards are thinner than stretched canvas.

Canvas Boards

Canvas Boards are medium grain cotton canvases of the highest quality, made for artists. They are double gesso primed, manually stretched, and acid-free. suitable for acrylics and oils.

Stretched Canvas

Stretched Canvas is a canvas that has already been stretched over a timber frame made up of stretcher bars and supports. Stretched canvas is available in a variety of lengths, widths (round, square, and rectangular), and depths (known as thin/slim or deep-edged/box canvas). They are convenient in that all you need to do to get going is remove the plastic packaging.

Wooden Painting Panels

The Wooden Painting Panel makes me think of Renaissance painting techniques! The panels can either be left as-is and painted in the original colour or treated with gesso before painting.
